Handed back and went over test.
Had several substances - asked students to classify them. At first most students classified them as solid, liquid, both.
Students then classified them as man-made or natural
I suggested pure vs mixtures.
Students then classified pure as elements or compounds.
Students classified mixtures as smooth (homogeneous) or lumpy (heterogeneous)
In the sludge lab, students will have to separate substances based on physical properties and then identify them.
